Proposed itinerary/route:
On
Friday morning, we will leave at 8:00 AM from the Citgo gas station on the
corner of Hwy 64 and Jenks Rd. We can travel Hwy 64 west to Lenior, NC and
then take 321 north into Boone, NC. We can grab lunch in Boone, then take
the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) northeast
approximately 200 miles to the Peaks of Otter Lodge (POL), near Bedford, VA.
POL is located 20 miles north of Roanoke, VA on the BRP

The trip from Apex to the POL will be approximately 390 miles and take approximately
ten (10) hours at Hwy 64/BRP speeds.
Saturday morning, we can have breakfast in the POL restaurant and drive home.
We can take the BRP north to Hwy 501,
then take Hwy 501 south through Durham into Pittsboro. The return trip home
will be approximately 210 miles and take five (5) hours.
Please make your reservations at POL for Friday night if you are going. Rooms
fill up quickly at that time of year. Rooms are approximately $120 per night.
